 News Release

Atlanta Police Athletic League Ready for Big Boxing Event

The Atlanta Police Athletic League (PAL) will host the 2015 Mayor’s Cup Amateur Boxing Championship on Friday, January 23 at the Adamsville Recreational Center at 7 pm. The annual boxing event is the major fundraiser for the organization and all proceeds go directly to funding sports activities and after school programs for Atlanta youth for the entire year. Last year, some of the funding from the Mayor’s Cup was used to support a free Spring Break camp for Atlanta Public School middle school students.

Police officers, firefighters, other public safety personnel as well as PAL youth will compete in boxing matches. This is a coed event.

Tickets start at $10 and are available for purchase at Public Safety Headquarters, PAL Centers or by contacting Sgt. V. Sims @ vrsims@atlantaga.gov or 404-799-2340. Free parking is available at the Adamsville Recreational Center located at 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30311. PAL is also selling $1 raffle tickets with prizes such as a flat screen television, Blu-Ray players, hotel stays and much more.
