Atlanta Police, HIDTA, DEA Make Historic Methamphetamine Bust

Largest Meth Raid in City’s History

 

On March 25, 2015, Atlanta Police Narcotics Team 3 and the DEA Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team (CLET), supported by HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) executed simultaneous search warrants at 2318 and 2330 Nelms Drive in Atlanta, GA.  Investigators discovered a fully operational methamphetamine conversion laboratory at 2318 Nelms Drive as well as a substantial amount of methamphetamine in various stages of production located 2330 Nelms Drive. 

 

“Through focused investigations and hours of hard work by law enforcement, we were able to disrupt a major meth operation that will prevent dangerous drugs from reaching our communities,” said Deputy Chief of Criminal Investigations Darryl Tolleson. 

 

Approximately 41lbs of crystal methamphetamine and 50 gallons of the liquid form of methamphetamine which if converted to the crystal form would equal approximately 250lbs.    All combined it would have a street value of more than 10.8 million.  Also recovered was more than $35,000 in cash as well as a 9mm gun and 3 vehicles.

 

During the bust, Mr. Armando Ayala was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.  He was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
