Mayor Kasim Reed and Public Safety Officials Launch NotifyATL, the City of Atlanta’s New Mass Notification System

ATLANTA – Mayor Kasim Reed today announced the launch of NotifyATL, the City of Atlanta’s new mass notification system. Mayor Reed was joined by Office of Emergency Preparedness Director Ria Aiken, Atlanta Police Department Assistant Chief Shawn Jones, Atlanta Fire Rescue Department Chief Joel Baker and Department of Corrections Chief Patrick Labat.

NotifyATL is the City’s emergency alert notification program which helps keep residents and visitors in Atlanta safe and informed in the event of an emergency. The system enables the city to provide everyone with real time alerts on severe winter weather, potential safety hazards, road closures and community events.

“Launching this emergency alert system has been a priority for me because nothing is more important than keeping our city’s residents and visitors safe,” said Mayor Reed. “NotifyATL provides us with a powerful and effective new tool for communicating with tens of thousands of people directly and urgently. I urge all those who live, work and play in the City of Atlanta to sign up."

Signing up for NotifyATL is free and easy to do. Residents and visitors can sign up using a computer, tablet or mobile device. Visit www.atlantaga.gov/notifyatl and opt-in to receive alerts to home, mobile or business phones. Email and text messaging are notification options as well.

For individuals needing assistance or access to a computer, all Centers of Hope across the City will be equipped with the tools and staff to help in signing up for NotifyATL.
