News Release

Atlanta Streetcar Announces Modified Route and Service During Visit from President Barack Obama

ATLANTA –  The Atlanta Streetcar will operate on a modified weekday schedule on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 to accommodate a visit from U.S. President Barack Obama.

The Streetcar will operate during its normal service hours from 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday and run until 11:00 p.m., but its regular route will be amended between 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. with reduced frequency and closure of some stops due to the President’s visit.

Between 12:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., the Streetcar will run on a reduced route with one car between Woodruff Park and Park Place. Motorist traffic may be heavy in the area due to road closures; however, we do not anticipate any major impact or delays to affect Streetcar services. Extra security and staff will be on-site to help with traffic control and any passenger or customer service needs.

During these amended hours, the Centennial Olympic Park, Peachtree Center, Luckie at Cone and Carnegie at Spring stops will not be open for passenger service.

Regular service will resume Tuesday at approximately 4:30 p.m. or as soon as traffic clears; and will continue until 11:00 p.m. serving all stops. Normal service hours will resume Wednesday, March 30.
