Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Parks & Recreation Host Hoops 4 Hope Basketball Tourney
ATLANTA – The Atlanta Police Department in partnership with Atlanta Parks and Recreation proudly announces the “Hoops 4 Hope Basketball 3-on-3 Tournament”.
Teams will take it to the hoop Friday, April 29 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Ben Hill Recreation Center located at 2405 Fairburn Road, SW, Atlanta, GA. The event will have something for everyone from GED and college application assistance to career coaching and planning. Members of the Community Oriented Police Section (C.O.P.S.) will be on hand to provide information about various programs offered by the Atlanta Police Department.
After the slam dunk success of the first “Hoops 4 Hope” tournament, the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Parks and Recreation are eager to lace up and go hard in the paint. The first “Hoops 4 Hope” was held Friday, March 18 and it drew a crowd of more than 200 spectators, players and City of Atlanta employees. More than 40 attendees applied for employment. Additionally, Atlanta Metropolitan State College waived the application fee for potential students.
The Atlanta Police Department delivered in the clutch as C.O.P.S. were able to secure safe temporary housing for a homeless family. “Hoops 4 Hope” is just one example of how community engagement can change lives.
This is the second in a series of tournaments that will take place around the City. The Hoops 4 Hope tournaments are scheduled for the last Friday of the month through October. The event is free and open to the public. We encourage the community to attend and enjoy food, family and fun!
