Atlanta Police personnel honored at the 2016 Crime is Toast Awards hosted by the Atlanta Police Foundation

(Atlanta) – Today, the Atlanta Police Department honored several employees for excellent service and actions beyond the call of duty. The Atlanta Police Foundation hosted the 13th annual Crime is Toast Breakfast which gathered business and community leaders in a display of support for the Atlanta Police Department in the Georgia Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center.

This year’s event chair was Chairman and CEO of UPS, David Abney. UPS is an avid supporter of the Foundation and its vision of Atlanta as the safest large city in the Nation. More than 900 people attended this event, including more than 200 representatives of the Atlanta Police Department.

The event began with a welcome by Robin Loudermilk, President and CEO of the Loudermilk Companies. The morning was highlighted by the State of Public Safety address given by Mayor Kasim Reed and the State of the Force speech given by Chief George N. Turner. It also included the annual Awards Ceremony, which recognizes acts of bravery and dedication by our men and women in blue throughout the year. Dave Wilkinson, President and CEO of the Atlanta Police Foundation gave closing remarks reminding everyone that only through working together will we achieve success.

Meritorious Service Award: Officer Bahri Durmishi and Officer Juan Nunez

Marion Lee Trailblazer Award: Douglas Evans

The Judge Arthur Kaplan Community Service Award: Sergeant Alicia Turner

The Dennis P. Mullen Lifetime Achievement Awards Investigator David Quinn

COBRA – Crime Reduction Award: Zone 3
