MISSION

The mission of the Department of Public Works (DPW) is to enhance the quality of life by providing environmentally safe protections for the welfare of all citizens. DPW promotes livable, walkable, green and sustainable communities, and to support economic development through adherence of policies, goals, and objectives that achieve the Mayor's Vision for the City of Atlanta.

VISION

The vision of DPW is to ensure environmental compliance, good working relationships, and high standards of professional management for the City of Atlanta. As an industry leader, the management and staff of DPW is committed to:

  • The improvement, protection and maintenance of the public right-of-way
  • To provide prompt, valuable and effective communications for all citizen’s inquiries and requests
  • To efficiently collect, recycle and dispose of all solid waste through a process that is most beneficial for the environment
  • To maintain all City of Atlanta vehicles and provide all departments with equipment vital to performing critical city services
