Recycling Collection
The Office of Solid Waste Services provides weekly curbside recycling. Residents are required to use City-issued collection carts and follow established collection guidelines per City Code of Ordinances Sec 130-37 to help ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service.
By recycling correctly and preventing contamination, residents help ensure recyclable materials can be processed and diverted from landfills.
Quick Recycling Collection Guidelines
- Do not bag recyclable items
- Place recyclables loose in a City-issued blue recycling cart
- Keep recyclable materials clean and dry whenever possible
- Flatten cardboard boxes to save space in the cart
- Recycling is collected once per week on the same day as garbage collection
- Place recycling carts curbside no later than 7 a.m. on collection day
- Remove carts from the curb by 9 a.m. the day after collection
To help prevent contamination, do not place:
- Contaminated recycling loads may not be collected
- Plastic bags
- Food waste
- Yard trimmings
- Household garbage
- Hazardous materials
- Other non-recyclable materials

Hard-to-Recycle Items
Hard-to-recycle items should NOT be discarded in curbside recycling or solid waste collections.
Residents are encouraged to take these items to the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM).

Missed Collections
Residents may report a missed garbage or recycling collection after 3:30 p.m. on their collection day by contacting ATL311 at www.atl311.com or 404-546-0311.
