Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Joins Mayors and Executives Around the Country to Urge USCIS to Reduce Unacceptable Backlog of Citizenship Applications That Create “Second Wall” for Local Immigrants
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms joined nearly 50 U.S. mayors and executives who on Monday delivered a letter to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Frank Cissna demanding that the agency reduce the backlog of over 753,000 citizenship applications and reduce the time it currently takes to process citizenship applications down to six months, on behalf of a quarter of a million immigrants with pending applications who reside in their cities.

Atlanta to Potentially Host World Cup Semifinal in 2026
Earlier today, the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) announced that the 2026 World Cup will be played in North America, with games in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The successful North American bid to host the event recommended Atlanta as a potential site for a semifinal match as well as the international broadcast center.

City of Atlanta Channel 26 Nominated for Emmy Award
The City of Atlanta announced today that Channel 26 has been nominated for an Emmy Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) Southeast for their “WEI Graduates Express Gratitude” video, featuring the first inaugural class of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI). The “WEI Graduates Express Gratitude” video is one of several nominations in the Public/Current/Community Affairs category.
