The Office of Entertainment is happy to encourage student filmmakers to pursue their craft, and we want to make it as simple as possible. Here’s what students need to know about filming in Atlanta.
DO I QUALIFY AS A STUDENT?
If you can provide documentation of your student status, then you are eligible for a student filming permit at student rates.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR A STUDENT FILMING PERMIT?
The process is almost exactly the same as non-student filming permitting, except for fee amounts and additional documents.
Fill out an information sheet and discuss your needs with the office.
Apply for a permit and pay the application fee (if any fees apply). In addition to the information sheet, permit application and proof of enrollment, you will need to visit the office in person to present your student identification card, as well as one form of government-issued photo identification. Some examples are a driver’s license or a passport. A driver’s license is preferred, but if you do not have one, another form of photo identification will suffice.
- Permit application
- Application fee
- Traffic control plan
- Proof of enrollment/student status
- Student identification card
- Government-issued photo identification
Depending on the scope of your project, you may require additional approvals from other city agencies. The office will inform you of any other applications and/or fees necessary to complete your filming permit requirements.
Once all your requirements are complete, pay your permit fee. Visit this page to see the Office of Entertainment’s fee schedule, including student fees.
Once your permit is paid, you will be issued a student filming permit. Please keep a copy of the permit with you while on location.
