Welcome to the Ombudsman of the Neighborhood

The Ombudsman of Neighborhoods for the City of Atlanta is an official responsible for serving as a neutral and independent resource for residents and neighborhood stakeholders to help address concerns, facilitate communication, and work toward resolving issues with city government and programs. The role focuses on improving neighborhood engagement and ensuring that community voices are heard within local government processes and policies. The Ombudsman provides informal assistance, helps clarify issues, identifies potential options for resolution, and can make recommendations to city leadership to improve fairness and responsiveness in how city services and policies affect neighborhoods.

As part of their practice, the Ombudsman adheres to professional standards set by the International Ombudsman Association (IOA). Under those standards, the Ombudsman operates with neutrality, impartiality, independence, and informality, meaning they do not advocate for any one party, remain unaligned in disputes, and function separately from other city administrative structures to maintain objectivity and trust.
