Residents across Atlanta and the nation have been hearing a great deal about changes in healthcare brought about by the Affordable Care Act adopted by Congress in 2010. One of the biggest changes will begin October 1 when individuals and families will be able to purchase health coverage.
The Health Insurance Marketplace is intended to help Americans, including approximately 20% of Georgians who do not currently have health insurance, as well as people who currently buy their own insurance.
The best place to get more information is Healthcare.gov, where residents can learn what the Health Insurance Marketplace is, who can apply for insurance, how to get insurance, how to lower costs, and more. The site also offers information for small business owners.
Open Enrollment for the Health Insurance Marketplace under the Aff¬ordable Care Act is coming soon. Here are three key dates to remember:
October 1, 2013 - Marketplace open enrollment starts
